Supreme Court (SC) Karachi registry has nullified Sindh High Court (SHC) decision regarding imposition of fine on Mathematics expert Assistant Professor in the case of withdrawing the subject of mathematics from him and assigning him task of teaching engineering subjects.
Appeal plea filed by Assistant professor Asghar Ali of Quaid-e-Azam university Nawab Shah against SHC decision in the case of withdrawing mathematics subject and assigning the task of teaching engineering subjects came up for hearing in SC Karachi registry Thursday.
Court while moving to assistant professor said it seems from plea you want to get shut university. If university is shut then you will go where.
Assistant Professor said I am expert teacher of teaching mathematics. The administration withdrew the central subject and assigned the task of teaching engineering subjects. When SHC was approached against the decision of administration then fine was imposed.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked we declare the decision of fine null and void. The decision of change of the subject has been taken back by the university administration.
Assistant professor said if I am given chance to be heard then I can make the court aware of the facts.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked you should not do so. When decision for changing the subject has been taken back, you should focus on teaching the boys. This way you will become court bird. What is your qualification.
Assistant professor said I did Msc Math. I have done Phd from France.
Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi remarked this is painful that there is no respect for educated people here with us.
The court declared the decision of SHC regarding imposition of fine null and void.
The court rejected the second petition filed by assistant professor against university management declaring it non maintainable.
