PESHAWAR
A three-day International Food and Nutrition Sciences Conference 2022 on Saturday concluded at University of Swat (UoS) in collaboration with Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan.
The special guests of the conference were Prof. Dr. Faqir Anjum, former Vice Chancellor University of Gambia and Chief Executive IFANCA Pakistan.
Addressing the event, the chief guest Prof. Dr. Faqir Anjum said that holding international conferences in universities is the need of the time because nowadays, where every field is in the race for development. He said that the importance of hygiene and unhygienic food items is also very important.
He said that 800 million people are hungry in the world, while in the other side there are some countries where more than 70 percent of the young population is obese.
Addressing the event, Vice Chancellor University of Swat Professor Dr. Hassan Sher said that such events should be arranged to create awareness among students and faculty members about the food and nutrition.
Vice Chancellor Gomal University Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed welcomed all the guests and said that I am happy to see such important figures in the conference.
He said that holding such conferences is need of the hour and educating students and teachers about our culture and norms especially related to food.
He thanked the organizers of the program, Dr. Sadaf Jawariya, Head of the Department of Food Sciences of Gomal University, her entire team and all the management including the Vice Chancellor of the University of Swat for organizing a successful conference.
Vice Chancellor Women University Swabi Professor Dr. Shahana Arooj, DG Pakistan Science Foundation, Dr. Akram Sheikh, Director Halal Food Dr. Abdul Sattar, Dr. Sarwar Awan, Dean of Iqra National University, Professor Dr. Jahangir Khan, Faculty of Noor International University, Lahore, Dean of Applied Health Sciences Professor Dr. Tahir Zahoor and other guests also spoke.
At the end of the ceremony, the chief guest also distributed honorary shields among other dignitaries and organizers.
The Vice Chancellor of Gomal University and University of Swat also presented honorary shields to the special guest Prof. Dr. Faqir Anjum.
The program was attended by Vice Chancellor Women University Swabi Prof. Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi, Pakistan’s most famous and senior food scientist Prof. Dr. Javed Aziz Awan, Dean of Faculty of Allied Health Sciences of Iqra International University Peshawar Prof. Dr. Jahangir Khan and others.
