Police have arrested 12 members of three gangs allegedly involved in a number of crimes and seized from them ten stolen motorcycles, six pistols and 60 smart phones.
According to a handout, SP Faqirabad Dr Muhammad Umar has ordered a crackdown on criminal elements in the areas.
Following the instructions, ASP Syed Talal Ahmed Shah, DSP Shakeel Khan formed different teams and conducted a number of operations.
The teams were led by SHO Gulbahar Police Station Rafiq Khan and Police Station Paharipura Bilal Hussain tracked down the active and dangerous gangs of armed robbers during various operations.
The arrested persons have been identified as Osama, Meher Gul, Anhar, Zahid, Nabi, Faizan, Tahir, Khushal, Shahryar, Mudassar and Yasir.
The statement said that among the arrested suspects are those from the neighboring country of Afghanistan.
The arrested persons are the residents of Faqirabad, Sheikhabad, Gulbahar, Chamkani, Landi Kotal and other areas of Khyber district.
The arrested suspects are also involved in smuggling valuable mobile phones to the neighboring country of Afghanistan, including selling stolen motorcycles and mobile phones at exorbitant prices.
According to police statements, the accused have confessed to crimes during the preliminary interrogation.
