Sardheri police have arrested three suspects allegedly nominated in a rape case and recovered a pistol believed to have been used in the offence, police said on Monday.
Police said a case was registered at Sardheri police station on September 13 after a complaint was received against four nominated suspects. District Police Officer Rifaatullah Khan formed four special investigation and operational teams under the supervision of SP Investigation Alamzaib Khan to investigate the case.
The teams conducted inquiries, examined available evidence and followed up on different leads before arresting three suspects including Mishal Taimur and Naseer, all residents of Ibrahimzai, Sardheri, police said.
A pistol allegedly used in the incident was also recovered from Taimur during the operation, according to police.
Further investigation was underway, while teams have been tasked with arresting the remaining nominated suspect.
DPO Rifaatullah Khan said indiscriminate action would continue against elements involved in serious crimes. He said modern investigative techniques and professional expertise would be used to ensure that cases were taken to their logical conclusion on merit.
