PESHAWAR
The Peshawar Development Authority’s (PDA) director general on Tuesday suspended three officials of the authority over their involvement in alleged utilization of state machinery for PTI’s Peshawar public meeting.
The action was taken after ECP served a notice to DG-PDA over its officials and machinery involvement in providing support to PTI chairman Imran Khan Jalsa in Peshawar in connection with upcoming by-election.
As per an office order that three officials the Fireman Abdul Qayum, Fireman Kachkul Khan and Workcharge Owais Ali Shah were suspended on the directives of the DG and inquiry was launched against them.
The DG-PDA also appointed project director Dr Adil Ayub inquiry officer and directed him to submit a complete report to him within fortnight.
Earlier, a video went viral on different social media platforms in which PDA machinery was used for facilitating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) public meeting in Peshawar.
The ECP has also served a notice to DG-PDA for violation of election code and pinpointed that the authority provided its machinery for PTI chairman Jalsa who is a candidate from Peshawar on a NA seat in upcoming by-elections in the province.
The ECP in its code of conduct added that the PTI chairman was contesting a by-election from Peshawar and not allowed to utilize provincial government resources for its political gathering or Jalsa.
The PDA machinery, as per the video went viral on social media, could be seen affixing flags and making necessary arrangements for scheduled Jalsa of PTI chairman Imran Khan.
