A delegation led by Waliullah Khan, a young leader of the Toori tribe from Mir Ali, called on Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa General Secretary Hussain Shah Yousafzai to brief him on the ongoing peaceful protest and jirgas being held for the past 14 months.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted key concerns, including environmental pollution, lack of local employment opportunities, and other rights violations allegedly caused by Mari Petroleum and SNGPL. They urged immediate intervention by the political leadership and civil administration.
Expressing deep concern over the situation, Hussain Shah Yousafzai assured the delegation of ANP’s full support. He pledged to raise the issue both in the Senate Standing Committee and on the Senate floor, vowing to hold the companies accountable for any violation of national rights.
Yousafzai emphasized that serious questions would be asked regarding the conduct of the companies and promised that the matter would not be allowed to fade into obscurity. The delegation reiterated the Toori tribe’s commitment to pursuing their legitimate demands through peaceful and democratic means.
They appealed to all relevant institutions to take urgent notice of the issue and ensure justice and protection of tribal rights.
