Trade activities and pedestrian movement across the border to remain suspended, says deputy commissioner

Remaining shut for twenty days for all kinds of crossing, the Torkham border was resumed on Saturday only for repatriated Afghan families, immigration and forces officials said.
However they said that the pedestrian and trades movement was still restricted at the border till further order.
The repatriation of the Afghan families was shortly suspended on 12 October following clashes between Pakistan Afghan border forces.
Officials believed that the permission for the return of trapped Afghan families was granted only after an understanding developed between Pak and Afghan delegates at Istanbul on Oct 30, 2025 to tackle the terrorism issue.
Get informed the stuck Afghan nationals thronged to the border and thousands of Afghanis was witnessed outside the immigration office, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) official informed.
The opening news of the Torkham border was celebrated by the stranded Afghan families and individuals, waiting in lines outside the immigration office in Torkham.
Hundreds of families after clearance were repatriated to their home towns in Afghanistan, customs officials said.
FIA,customs and other officials in Torkham said that they had been directed high up to hold their duties and repatriate the Afghan families via Torkham border although no time frame was disclosed that for how many days the border will resume to facilitate the outgoing Afghan families.
