Transgender community appeals for justice, protection

KP Transgender Alliance Monday appealed provincial government for justice and protection by taking action against extortionists.
Addressing a press conference here at Press Club, President KP Transgender Alliance Farzan Riaz revealed that 64 transgender have been killed while more than 600 have been tortured since 2015 in the province.
She said that extortionist from district Mardan have grabbed Rs.50,000 from Shakeela transgender and demanded one million rupees more. She said upon refusal of extortion money, they kidnapped Shakeela on the first day of Eidul Fitr and released on unidentified place after being torturing for three hours.
“We are messengers of love and peace but even than are being tortured” she said adding similarly two members of the community Laiba and Khushbu have left the district Mardan due to continuous threats of extortionists.
She appealed government to provide them justice and protection as transgender community also registered 12 FIRs in various police stations but no veil.
