UBG leader urges superior judiciary to take notice of alleged anomalies in BRT project

PESHAWAR: The United Business Group (UBG) senior leader and former senator, Ilyas Ahmad Bilour on Thursday urged the superior judiciary to take notice over alleged anomalies in much anticipated Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit Project. Mr Bilour, the country’s leading businessman in a statement issued here criticized that the government has completely ruined real face and identity of Peshawar since the launch of BRT and it had made the accountability institutions as ‘maidservant’. He expressed grave concern over silence of ‘anti-graft’ institutions regarding serious irregularities in the mega Peshawar BRT project. Ilyas Bilour who is also Awami National Party senior leader said if they would get chance to form government again, then the people who were made financial misappropriations in BRT project, so they will be brought to justice. He said the Peshawar had divided into four part after launch of the BRT project. He added there was no need of BRT in Peshawar. He added the project has not only ruined beauty of the provincial metropolis, but it was also diminish the historic important of the grand trunk road Peshawar, which was impossible to revive. The UBG leader said the ‘anti-graft’ watchdog didn’t take notice over serious errors and blunders in the project, which was affected image of NAB. He demanded to take immediate action against the responsible of the BRT, because of which business and trade activities adversely affected and made life of Peshawarities miserable. The Peshawar, a city of flowers made it as the city of bridges, Mr Bilour said. He said local traders were facing loss of billions of rupees on daily basis. Our Correspondent
