PESHAWAR (PR): The National Institute of Urban Infrastructure Planning (NIUIP) University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar and Water Supply and Sanitation Services Company Peshawar signed a Memorandum of Understanding in their efforts to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar and Mr. Khanzeb Khan, CEO WSSP during a ceremony held at Conference Hall of the university. Dean Faculty of Engineering UET Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad, Registrar Dr. Khizar Azam, Director NIUIP Dr. Rashid Rehan, senior faculty members of WSSP officials were also present on the occasion.
According to the MoU both UET Peshawar and WSSP will collaborate in encouraging direct contact and professional cooperation between their officials.
NIUIP and WSSP will collaborate in Joint research activities including cooperation on data collection, analysis and sharing, professional consulting services, professional training courses by NIUIP for WSSP officials, promotion of post-graduate educational opportunities for the officials of WSSP, Co-supervision by WSSP officials – when eligible under relevant UET rules – of post-graduate students at the NIUIP, Organizing joint workshops, seminars, and symposia on mutually agreed themes, exchange of academic materials, publications, consultancy and commissioned study reports.
Meanwhile, the both NIUIP and WSSP agreed that WSSP will provide internship opportunities for post-graduate students of NIUIP.
Speaking on the occasion Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain termed the agreement as the landmark decision which would go a long way in creating a conducive environment for better, workable and professional relationship between academia and industry.
CEO WSSP Mr. Khanzada Khan thanked the UET administration for the collaboration with WSSP. He said after the signing of MoU he was hopeful that the performance of his department would improve and people would get better services.
Director NIUIP Dr. Rashid Rehan briefed the participants of the meeting about the MoU.
