PESHAWAR: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar has been functioning without a full-time vice-chancellor for the past three months, hampering the routine matters of the university as well as causing problems for the students. A senior official of the university told Lead Pakistan that the lack of a Vice Chancellor, combined with the absence of a pro Vice Chancellor, is severely impacting the university’s operations and creating significant hardships for students. “One of the most pressing issues is the difficulty students are facing in obtaining their degrees,” he stated. He said that without the leadership of a Vice Chancellor, students were being forced to make multiple visits to the university to try and collect their degrees, causing delays and frustration. The provincial government has been criticized for its lack of action in addressing the situation. Despite the clear disruption to both administrative matters and the students’ academic progress, the government has remained silent and has not yet appointed a new Vice Chancellor. This delay is not only hindering the university’s functionality but is also adding to the growing problems faced by students, who are already dealing with the stress of their education and future prospects. The absence of a permanent Vice Chancellor and pro Vice Chancellor is a significant oversight, and unless addressed promptly, it may continue to negatively affect the university’s administration and student experience.
