The students of University of Agriculture Peshawar under the umbrella of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) on Monday urged the administration to take back the decision of hike in tuition, hostel fees and other charges or else they would take to the street against the university’s decision.
Talking to reporters after an emergency meeting organized by IJT, Arshad Khan and other office bearers expressed concern over the university decision to make an unbearable increase in tuition and other charges.
“The exorbitant increase in hostel and tuition fees should be withdrawn and scholarships should be announced for the deserving candidates at the university,” they demanded.
They alleged the administration of the Agriculture University of Peshawar for lacking any proper study rooms in hostels and asked the authority concerned to set up study rooms in hostels for students.
JIT leaders said that instead of visiting faculty, teachers should be appointed on a permanent basis, penalty for submitting tuition fees should be abolished in all departments of the university.
Wi-Fi facility should be provided in all classes and hostels including implementation of central examination schedule and harassment of students by teachers should be stopped, they added.
Nazim Arshad Khan, senior member of JIT, urged the university administration to stop failing the students to eliminate the deficit and increase the income and for the convenience of the students, the bank within the university premises was earmarked only for the deposit of student fees.
