WASHINGTON
A scientist from an American university has claimed that the Chinese medical authorities knew the genetic code of the corona virus 5 days before the world knew it.
According to the scientist, it was confirmed by an independent investigation.
The outbreak of Covid-19 in Wuhan was allegedly covered up by China.
The scientist said that the genome sequence of the coronavirus is essential for the development of tests and vaccines and was shared by China with the world more than 2 weeks later.
Rutgers University professor Bryce Nickels said that as more details of the early stages of the Covid epidemic emerge. We may see attempts to hide critical information.
He said that the efforts made by China to change public opinion were later seen in America and other western countries.
His claim came out in an exchange of messages between 4 scientists from Australia, Britain and the US.
In these messages, the publication of an article for a medical journal regarding the possible leak of the virus from the laboratory was discussed. This article made it clear that scientists are not entirely sure of the idea of the virus leaking from the laboratory.
Professor Eddie Holmes, a virologist at the University of Sydney in Australia and a visiting professor at China’s Center for Disease Control (CDC) at the beginning of the outbreak, said that Beijing is certainly trying to change the situation and suppress the idea that the virus leaked from the laboratory. An attempt was made.
He said that the CDC had the genome sequence of the virus on December 26, 2019, but told the public that it cannot be transmitted from person to person and that the sequence details were shared with the world after January 10. He said that although people in Wuhan started getting sick since November 2019, the World Health Organization became aware of the outbreak of a new deadly disease on December 31.
