The University Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) Swat marked a significant milestone today by initiating a series of monthly socio-economic dialogues aimed at addressing critical issues of regional and global importance. The inaugural session, held under the theme “Conservation Debate: Preserving Biodiversity” with a fruitful discussion and lecture.
The Vice Chancellor and key note speaker Prof. Dr. Dawood Jan, delivered an insightful presentation on Biodiversity. The event brought together students and teachers as participants to share knowledge, expertise, and best practices in biodiversity conservation. On this occasion Mr. Azad Khan (Advisor Establishment & Finance UVAS, Swat), Dr. Khalid Khan (Assistant Registrar UVAS, Swat, Dr. Maryum Iqbal, Mr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan, Dr. Khurram Adrian Shah and Mr. Fayazuddin were also present and shared their ideas related to the topic.
The speaker also highlighted the urgent need for collective action to address biodiversity loss and climate change, importance of community-led conservation initiatives, role of technology in monitoring and managing biodiversity and need for policy reforms to support sustainable development.
Other participants and students also took part in discussion. The event was concluded by presenting ideas related to enhancing conservation efforts, promoting sustainable land-use practices, supporting climate-resilient ecosystems and fostering international cooperation.
