The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has conferred the prestigious Sitara-i-Imtiaz upon Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq, Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar in recognition of his remarkable contributions to medical education, research, and public health. This esteemed honor reflects the acknowledgment of his exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing the health sector in Pakistan.
The award, granted on the joint recommendation of the Prime Minister and the provincial government, highlights the pride and recognition KMU brings to the region under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq. He was nominated for this honor by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government and the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad, acknowledging his extraordinary impact in higher medical education, research, and public health initiatives.
Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq holds the distinction of being appointed as the youngest Vice Chancellor of KMU at the age of 40. During his tenure, he has transformed KMU into a self-sustained, modern health education and technology hub. His vision has propelled KMU to become a leading institution, excelling in research-driven and high-quality medical education.
In addition to his role at KMU, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq heads the Task Force for Higher Education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and serves on various provincial and national committees related to medical education and public health. His leadership extends internationally, where he spearheads multiple significant research projects.
