Verification process begins at holding center(entry point)

After expiring deadline for illegal immigrants, verification and data collection process of repatriated Afghan families commenced here in holding center, Hamza Baba Square of Landi Kotal on Wednesday.
It is to be mentioned here that till 31 October 2023, approximately 100485 persons (men, women and children) or 5265 Afghan families returned back to Afghanistan via Torkham border.
The government had established desks of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), Federal Investigative Agency (FIA), Custom, Afghan Commissionarate, security forces and other related departments to facilitate the home return Afghanis.
On Wednesday, 01 November, hundreds of unlawful Afghan families arrived at the holding center, Landi Kotal where the authorities conducted verification of them.
According to the official, following verification and data collection, the immigrants will be transported in fly coaches provided by the government to the zero point to cross the border to their motherland, Afghanistan.
Meanwhile Health department, Rescue 1122, Al-Khidmat Foundation and local traders have also initiated its welfare activities to ease Afghan repatriated families.
Deputy Commissioner, Khyber Abdunasir visited the entry point, observed the verification process of the repatriated Afghan families. He also met with going back Afghanis and inquired their miseries.
Separately, the FIA officials in Torkham block entry of drivers without legal visa and passport on Wednesday.
According to the official report, as per the government policy, had announced three weeks back pertaining restriction of transporters entry at Torkham border without proper visa, the drivers lacked travelling visa were denied to cross in at the crossing.
The transport community flayed the newly travelling scheme, adopted for the drivers and said dozens of vehicles loaded with import commodities, mostly of fruits stuck at the border.
It will certainly suffer export and import at Torkham border, they added.
The asked the government to implement pro-transporters policy at the border to enhance business activities.
