The wave of inflation could not be reduced in Peshawar as the prices of several food items increased during the week.
The price of vegetables, fruits and live chicken has increased again and despite tall claims by the officials of the district administration the people have been compelled to buy food items on the rates fixed by the shopkeepers and vendors of their own choice rather than following the official price list..
The sale of Onion witnessed a quick price hike and now being sold at 240 per kg which is not out of the reach of common people in the Holy month of Ramadan.
The rate of tomato Rs. 130 to 140 are being sold per kg while the price of garlic reached an all time high to 650 and ginger 610 per kg.
The rate of Potatoes 110, Kachalu 250, Green pepper 300, Capsicum 320, Eggplant 160, Cauliflower 130, Okra 360 rupees being sold per kg.
As the rates of the fruits in the market soar as Apple 330, Pomegranate 480, Stoberry 520, Amardo 310 per kg are being sold while Malta 330, banana 200 rupees per dozen are being sold.
Fifteen rupees increase in the price of live chicken per kg and now it has increased to 415 to 430 rupees per kg. The price of a dozen eggs will reach 310 rupees in the market.
