Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif has said we will extricate the people from this difficult time with mutual understanding and cooperation.
“we are providing assistance to flood affected people in collaboration with the provincial governments. Floods and heavy rains have caused devastation. Casualties have occurred in Tank and damage has been caused to homes. However I am happy no death has occurred in Dera Ismail khan”, he said this while talking to media men during his visit to KP Thursday.
He held “ I visited different areas of Balochistan and flood have caused heavy damage therein. It is obligation of federal and provincial governments to work shoulder in shoulder. I am happy that the local administration played best role in relief and rehabilitation activities.
“ Being PM I understand that KP government and chief minister did best job., he remarked.
Heavy responsibility rests with the provincial governments in such circumstances and they do the work., he observed. We are standing here in KP and are ready to extend cooperation. We stand with the affectees in this trying time and are providing assistance to flood hit people.
He remarked the provincial governments are making endeavors every where. However there are weaknesses and flaws too.
“I am grateful to chief minister Balochistan that he had released flood relief funds prior to my arrival, he held.
He directed that National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) should conduct joint survey along with Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
He stated that had weather led to delay his visit to KP.
Federal government has announced payment of Rs 10 lac to the family members of each individual who lost life in the flood. The compensation for injured has been enhanced from Rs 25000 to Rs 250000.
Earlier PM Shahbaz Sharif arrived in Tank. Maulana Fazlur Rehman also accompanied him.
PM was given briefing about the flood and rains affected areas. He was also informed about the relief and rehabilitation activities for the flood affectees.
Speaking on the occasion JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman said construction of Gomal Zam Dam is need of the hour as it will help avoid flood related issues and its water will be used for irrigation purposes.
