Chief Justice (CJ) Islamabad High Court (IHC) has asked Election Commission (EC) as to why it is increasing suspicions about election forcibly.
The CJ IHC gave these remarks during the hearing of contempt of court plea filed by Shoaib Shaheen against EC on non provision of certified copies of election documents including form 45 in NA-47 Islamabad and non compliance of court’s orders .
The petitioner and candidate from NA 47 Shoaib Shaheen and counsel for EC appeared in the court.
Shoaib Shaheen told the court’s orders were not complied in regard to provision of certified copies. The court had ordered to provide certified copies of relevant documents which have not been provided so far. The counsel for EC Zaigham Anees said the case has been discussed with provincial EC Punjab and the copies will be provided soon to them. One week time be given for providing certified copies.
The CJ remarked don’t say this. What is relevance of Islamabad with Punjab. Certified copies are their basic and legal right. Why they are not providing. As to why they are increasing the suspicions of the people about election forcibly. if EC has not to provide copies then should I order today. If a senior lawyer and former president Bar has to make such hectic struggle then what about the common man. It will take how much more time. One year, two years, three years or five years is period.
The counsel for EC Zaigham Anees assured the court to provide the certified copies before next hearing.
The court adjourned hearing of the case till April 24.
