Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a gang involved in gold theft from different jewelry shops in Saddar Bazaar and recovered Rs500, 000 stolen cash and a gold necklace worth Rs 1.3 million.
A statement issued here stated that acting on the directives of SP Cantt Division Aitzaz Arif, the team, led by SHO Police Station Gharbi (West) Noor Mohammad Khan and comprising ladies police and investigation officers, apprehended two suspects, including a woman.
Police said that the female suspect hails from Charsadda, while the male accomplice is a resident of Gulbahar Peshawar.
Police revealed that the woman arrested in the theft case was also a wanted criminal in a case registered at Khan Raziq Shaheed police station.
The arrests were made following an investigation into a complaint lodged by goldsmith Habibuddin, who reported fraud and theft of valuable jewelry from his shop.
Utilizing CCTV footage and other crucial evidence, police successfully tracked down the suspects.
During interrogation, both accused confessed to their crime. Police has recovered Rs 500,000 in cash and a gold necklace worth Rs 1.3 million.
