PESHAWAR
A lady polio health worker was shot dead on her way back home from work in the provincial capital here on Thursday.
According to reports, the lady polio health worker namely Iqra was going home from work, when her ex-fiancé allegedly opened fire at her near Ghari Hamza, an area of Daudzai Peshawar.
After the incident woman polio worker got severely injured and died on the way to hospital. Police said that polio worker has been shifted to hospital for postmortem.
The Police also recovered a pistol used in the incident from the scene and started gathering more evidences.
While a search operation is underway in the area, no arrests have been made so far.
Moreover, anti-polio officials have expressed deep sorrow over the murder of a lady polio health worker in Peshawar.
The dispute arises from a family dispute, said the so far investigation of the police.
Polio officials said in a statement that the lady health worker was returning home after completing her polio duty when her ex-fiancé allegedly shot and killed her on the way home.
