Urged the provincial government to stop Chitrali women and girls trafficking to other parts of the country

The chairman of All Pakistan Chitral Rights Movement Pir Mukhtiar Nabi has said that Bride-trafficking has been a growing phenomenon in Chitral, women and girls sold into marriage in the district remain sparse.
Pir Mukhtiar Nabi underscored the need for greater, nationwide efforts to stop Chitrali women and girls trafficking to other parts of the country after contracting marriages.
Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club here on Thursday Pir Mukhtiar Chitrali, Haji Gul Nawaz, Khalil Ahmad and others urged the government to take concrete steps against the people involved in the heinous crime of women trafficking in the region.
In the name of marriage, the trend of girls smuggling and brutality have increased manifold and many families have lost their daughters, sisters and beloved members of their families, he added.
He said after contracting marriage with the women in Chitral, people of the other parts of the country do not allow them to go back to their parent’s home, adding a girl, who had been married to Chiniot Punjab from Chitral, has been killed along with her seven month old daughter.
He said that there are several examples in which girls married to other parts of the country and did not return to their ancestral homes and sometimes were killed brutally.
“Even if a criminal is arrested, he is released after a while. We demand the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to arrest beasts like them and punish them severely” he added.
He further said that human trafficking on the name of marriage, the trade of innocent girls from Chitral should be stopped immediately.
He urged the provincial government to take concrete steps for curbing the heinous crimes of girls trafficking from the district and all those who were involved must be brought to justice.
He said that “This act is a great embarrassment to the people of Chitral”.
Sometimes girls get married without adequate information about the men to whom they contracting marriage and get trapped in the net of human trafficking he added.
Human trafficking is a crime that involves extreme forms of exploitation, which often leave survivors with enduring physical and psychological scars he added.
