City Mayor Himayatullah Mayar said that upon completion of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement project (KPCIP) the living standards of the citizens will be improved while chairing the meeting regarding KPCIP ongoing project he expressed that under KPCIP Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP), Green Urban Spaces (GUS) and Scientific Sanitary Landfill site (SLF) will be established for fourteen Urban Councils of Mardan. 8.5 billion rupees has been allocated for the construction of STP which is in progress moreover the construction of GUS project will be carried out through 58 million rupees and SLF will be established in Mardan with an allocated budget of 3.5billion rupees.
Chief Engineer Cities Implementation Unit Mardan Engineer Muhammad Khalil Akbar briefed the participants of the meeting. Tehsil Municipal Officer Mardan Sarfaraz Khan, Tehsil Officer Finance Ayaz and Tehsil Officer Infrastructure Haroon Khan were also present.
The City Mayor was informed that under the KPCIP project sewerage treatment plant, Green Urban Spaces and Modern Scientific Sanitary Landfill Site will be established in Mardan.
The sanitary landfill site has been framed for the efficient management of municipal waste while sewerage treatment plant will cater the issues related to waste water management and green urban spaces will provide environmental benefits and aesthetics to the beauty of Mardan city.
Under this project the municipal waste will be collected from every household within Mardan city and will be reused for other environment friendly purposes.
He said through the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) project the domestic sewerage connections of six urban union councils will be connected with STP for treatment and reuse for irrigation purpose.
The green urban spaces project will cater the issues regarding environmental pollution and beautification.
Himayatullah Mayar shown satisfaction over the ongoing development projects of KPCIP, and stated that these projects will be completed in consultation with all the stakeholders.
He said that all the available resources will be utilized to provide best sanitation services for the citizens of Mardan. He said that provision improved service delivery to the citizens of Mardan is our top priority.
