World Children’s Day celebrated in Landikotal

To promote child rights and highlight its importance, a vibrant and meaningful celebration of World Children’s Day took place today at Iqra Islamic Institute in Landikotal on Wednesday.
The event brought together government officials, community leaders, teachers, parents and children to emphasize the importance of protecting and promoting the rights of children. The programe was jountly arranged by local administration and polio department Khyber.
Guests included the additional assistant commissioner (AAC) of Landikotal, Rameez Ali Shah, polio communication Officer Said Afzal Shinwari,he Tehsil Chairman, Shah Khalid Shinwari, elected representatives and members of the local community also attended the event. The event was marked by creative performances by children, including songs, poems, skits, speeches and tableaus, showcasing their talents and perspectives on child rights.
Said Afzal Shinwari welcomed the participants and highlighted the significance of the event. He outlined the key principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), which Pakistan ratified in 1990.He said after the signatory of the convention we were committing to uphold children’s rights. He underscored the collective responsibility of the government and society to ensure children’s rights to education, health, and protection from exploitation.
Shinwari also stressed the importance of vaccinations as a fundamental health right.
Tehsil chairman Shah Khalid commended the children’s enthusiasm and potential, urging the community to take concrete actions to safeguard their rights. He called for the creation of safe and inclusive environments where children are free from exploitation and harm.
Additional assistant commissioner (AAC) Rameez Ali Shah emphasized the societal duty to protect and nurture children. He highlighted the importance of collective efforts to ensure a secure and supportive environment for their growth and development.
The event concluded with an awards ceremony, where prizes and medals were distributed among children as recognition of their outstanding performances. The celebration served as a call to action for all stakeholders to strive for a future where every child’s rights are respected, protected, and fulfilled.
