The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) of the National Assembly has strongly condemned the tragic death of Hina Javed at the residence of her in-laws in Rawalpindi and called for a transparent, impartial and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The WPC expressed profound grief over the incident, which reportedly involved severe violence and abuse, and stressed that every person found responsible or complicit must be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
Police have registered a case against Hina Javed’s husband and a domestic worker employed at the residence.
The WPC called for the investigation to comprehensively examine the role of all individuals who were present at the time of the incident, as well as any other persons who may be connected with the case.
Secretary WPC Dr. Shahida Rehmani, MNA, expressed condolences to the bereaved family and said the tragic death was deeply disturbing and raised serious concerns about the safety and protection of women within their own homes.
She stressed that there must be no compromise on a fair and complete investigation and that anyone found responsible must be held accountable under the law.
The WPC said violence against women in any form was unacceptable and called for effective enforcement of existing laws, stronger institutional mechanisms and greater accountability to ensure the safety, dignity and protection of women.
The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus reaffirmed its commitment to raising its voice against violence against women and gender-based violence and supporting legislative, institutional and policy measures aimed at ensuring justice, accountability and protection of women’s fundamental rights.
