WSSC establishes centre for converting garbage into fertilizer

PESHAWAR: Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Water Supply and Sanitation Company (WSSC) Mardan, Engineer Ameer Khan has said that the company has set up an integrated resource recovery centre for converting garbage into chemical fertilizer. He was addressing an awareness seminar on supply of clean drinking water and cleanliness in Mardan on Friday. The seminar was organized under the auspices of WSSC Mardan in collaboration with UNICEF. People from various schools of thought attended the seminar at large. The CEO WSSC further said that a water treatment plant is being established with the financial assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB). Addressing the seminar, Chairman Board of Director WSSC Mardan, Professor Dr Fazal Qadir said that the vehicles of the company are collecting garbage from 68% localities of the city and 5000 consumers of 10 urban union councils are supplied clean water three times a day. In his address, Manager (Wash Programme) UNICEF, Mohammad Shoaib said that the agency is ready to provide all kinds of assistance for the protection of water supply. He urged on all individuals of society to play their due role in the better utilization and ensuring protection to water. APP
