WSSCK, KUST jointly hold seminar on eve of Int’I Water Day

KOHAT: A day-long seminar was jointly organised by Water and Sanitation Services Company Kohat (WSSCK) and Department Environmental Sciences, University of Kohat on eve of International Water Day here on Tuesday.

Prof Dr Israr Khan, Vice chancellor, Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) was chief guest at the seminar.

Other keynote speakers of the event include department of Islamic Studies, Dr Qaiser Bilal, Department of Environmental Sciences, KUST Dr Tehseen Javed, WSSCK Manager Media and Communications Asma Ali and others.

Dr Qaiser Bilal while speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of water, saying that usage of water for offering prayer is essential in Islam.

However, he said it is strictly prohibited to waste the water.

He added the preparation themselves for prayer is also worship, for which water is also being used very carefully to preserve it.

Dr Tehseen in his speech enlightened the participants regarding present research tendencies and predictions about underground water surface level in Kohat district.

Ms Asma Ali, on the occasion informed about her institution’s various ongoing and future projects regarding provision of clean drinking water to people in the district.

A model and painting competition was also held on occasion, in which students of KUST, along with Islamia Girls Degree College, Kohat Khyber College Kohat fully participated.

At the end of the event, shields were presented to speakers of the seminar.

While shields and certificates were also distributed among first, second and third position holders of the competition.
