PM’s Youth Laptop Scheme Phase-IV distribution ceremony held at Abbottabad University of Science and Technology
Abbottabad: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, addressed the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme Phase-IV distribution ceremony at Abbottabad University of Science and Technology. The event was attended by the university administration, faculty members, and a large number of students. After his address, the Federal Minister also distributed laptops among the students.
Speaking as the chief guest, the Federal Minister expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for practically advancing this significant initiative aimed at the education and development of youth. Addressing the students, he said that the bright future of Pakistan lies in their hands. He emphasized that the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme is not merely the distribution of devices but an intellectual investment that will enhance their skills, knowledge, and innovation.
He stated that in today’s era, access to technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity. This program reflects the government’s serious efforts to equip young people with modern knowledge and resources, enabling them to compete at the global level. He remarked that this is not just about laptops, but about empowering students for success and presenting Pakistan prominently in the fields of research and innovation on the world stage.
The Federal Minister further noted that these laptops will provide students with opportunities for research, creativity, innovation, and global connectivity, allowing them to explore new ideas, improve their skills, and play an effective role in the development of Pakistan. He recalled that this scheme was initiated in 2013 during the tenure of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and to date, approximately 600,000 laptops have been distributed across the country on merit. In the same continuity, around 1,194 laptops have so far been distributed among students at this university.
During the ceremony, the university administration highlighted the issue of a shortage of transport buses for students. The Federal Minister assured that the matter would be considered seriously and efforts would be made to arrange additional buses.
Responding to the demand for the construction of a mosque on campus, the Federal Minister expressed his full support, stating that it is not only a necessity for students but also an important religious requirement. He directed that the cost estimate be submitted to ensure the construction of the mosque.
Similarly, regarding the demand for the establishment of a research center, the Federal Minister responded positively and asked for the submission of cost estimates, assuring that the government would fully cooperate and efforts would be made to initiate work on the project.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Federal Minister distributed laptops among the students and expressed hope that this initiative would further enhance the academic and research capabilities of the youth and serve as a milestone in the country’s development.
