PESHAWAR: 28 shopkeepers were arrested and 13 others were issued warning during a crackdown against profiteers in Hayatabad Township on Thursday. On the directives of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar, Shah Fahad, a team of the district administration conducted raids on shopkeepers in various markets of the township and inspected 72 shops. Out of the total inspected shops 28 shopkeepers were arrested for profiteering, lack of official price list, selling of under-weight roti and unhygienic conditions while 13 others were issued warnings for bringing improvement in their environment. The arrested shopkeepers include fruit & vegetable sellers, bakers (nanbais), milkmen, grocers and others.
