2nd National Women’s Lacrosse Championship kicked off at Abbottabad

The 2nd National Women’s Lacrosse Championship kicked off at Abbottabad. Nine teams from across the country are participating in the championship, including Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Hazara, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Islamabad. A total of 120 women players are participating in the championship.
The official inauguration was conducted by Safeer Ahmad, Secretary General of Hattar Industrial Estate. In the opening match, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won 3-2 against Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K). Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Miss Gul Pari was declared the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for her outstanding performance, who scored two goals.
During the ceremony, Safeer Ahmad welcomed the participants on behalf of the Hazara region and Abbottabad, emphasizing the vital role of sports in society, particularly for women’s empowerment. He encouraged continued efforts to promote women’s participation in sports.
He stressed the need to promote women’s participation in sports. Engineer Taifur Zarin, Secretary General Pakistan Lacrosse Federation, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Safeer Ahmed and said that the spirit of sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is alive because of such dedicated individuals.
At the event, special children from Kingston School for Inclusive Education presented a brilliant performance and welcomed the participants.
Engineer Taifur Zarin also announced the establishment of a lacrosse academy, equipment and kits for Kingston School for Inclusive Children, Abbottabad.
