4th DHO conference shows significant improvement in districts levels: Ihtesham

The 4th District Health Officers (DHO) Conference was held under the chairmanship of KP Health Advisor Ihtesham Ali. The conference was attended by Health Secretary Shahidullah, Special Secretary Polio Abdul Basit, Additional Director Generals, Regional Directors, and DHOs from all districts.
Director IMU Dr. Ijaz briefed the participants on DHO performance, medicine availability, staff attendance, and rationalization of medicines and human resources. Regional and district-level performance was reviewed, and strategies for further improvement were discussed.
Advisor Ihtesham Ali stated that regular holding of such conferences has led to a visible improvement inDHO performance, with the performance score increasing from 50 to 70. The focus on medicine and HR rationalization is directly benefiting the public through better functionality of health facilities.
To ensure transparency in drug procurement, the CM Medicine Ordering Portal has been launched, through which 88% of the allocated budget has been utilized so far.
This system is operational in 28 districts, and it includes a standard medicine list. Any deviation from the standard list is tracked by the system. DHOs were also issued a warning in this regard during the conference.
Health Secretary Shahidullah said that medicine rationalization is improving primary health services. He urged DHOs to utilize PCMC budget funds effectively and cover routine expenditures independently.
He also issued instructions to further improve performance for the next conference.
