MUMBAI:Virat Kohli smashed 235 runs as India finished their first innings with a massive 231-run lead over England in the fourth Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai Sunday.
India were bowled out for 631 mid-way through the afternoon of day four. Jayant Yadav scored 104 after Kohli brought up his double ton.
England’s highest wicket-taker was Adil Rashid with figures of 4-192. The tourists, who must win to keep the series alive, scored 400 in their first innings.
Ashwin to Ball, OUT, another one, just before stumps. Yes, he has edged it. He’s done his job though. Lots of flight on that on off, the topspinner. Ball gets forward and plays for some turn, but Ashwin ensured there wasn’t much spin because of the variation. Ball gets a thin outside edge which is well held by Parthiv. India strike off the last ball of the day.
Despite England’s grit in that session, India have easily dominated the fourth day. They are now in form control of the Test, and by extension the series. India’s bowlers picked up three in the second session, three in the third. England scored plenty, but they’re still 49 runs behind making India bat again. We’ll all be back bright and early for the final day of the Mumbai Test. Do join us for that. Until then.
Jayant Yadav: Scope of improvement for everything. Whenever you’re batting with Virat, things feel easier. When they were bowling short, he told me to pull, my instinct is to leave the ball. If you can contribute with the bat, any skill, you should work on it. I pride my wicket. Was wicketless in the first innings, wanted to contribute more with the bat. He (Ashwin) gives me situational advise, what can be done better.”
