PESHAWAR
In connection with the 74th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, a ceremony was held at the China Study Center, University of Peshawar, in collaboration with the Pakistan-China Friendship Association.
Chief guest of the event, Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Syed Qasim Ali Shah, cut the anniversary cake.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar Professor Dr. Johar Ali, General Secretary of the Pakistan-China Friendship Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Ali Nawaz Gilani, Director of the China Study Center Dr. Noor Sanauddin, university faculty, students, and individuals from various sectors.
Speaking at the event, the chief guest, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, highlighted the deep-rooted relationship between Pakistan and China.
He said that during the recent escalation between Pakistan and India, China’s unwavering support demonstrated that it is a true and tested ally of Pakistan.
He expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the study center and hoped that it would continue to contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations.
He emphasized the importance of delegation exchanges and noted that people-to-people contacts would further enhance bilateral relations.
On the occasion, Syed Ali Nawaz Gilani paid tribute to the efforts of Syed Ali Shah, father of Syed Qasim Ali Shah, who, as the Mayor of Peshawar, played a key role in declaring Peshawar and the Chinese city of Urumqi as twin cities nearly 40 years ago.
VC Peshawar University and the Director China Study Center also addressed the event. “Youm e Tashakur” was also observed at the event to commemorate Pakistan’s historic victory in the recent Pakistan-India war. Prayers were offered for the martyrs and a one-minute silence was observed in solidarity.
