Peshawar: Professor Dr GhulamRasool selected as Dean Khyber College of Dentistry Peshawar by selection committee constituted by board of governors duly approved by the board and notified on 4th Feb 2017.
According to the MTI KTH spokesman the post of dean KCD was advertised in Jan 2016 and a selection committee was constituted by the board according to the regulation of board.
One of the candidates Prof DrHashim khan was not happy with the selection process. As according to the advertisement the requirements for the post were PHD/FCPS qualification and seven year administrative experience.
Dr Hashim did not possess the requisite qualification and was not shortlisted.
Who filed a writ in Peshawar High court. In his writ he blamed the selection committee as biased and mallafied. He also requested for inclusion of his name in the short listed candidates for interview and removal of the setting principal Prof Dr Ghulam Rasool.
The court issued status co orders and the selection committee was stopped to proceed the process. Mean while the board of governor changed the regulations according to the will of aggrieved person and gave relaxation in qualification to qualify him for interview of Dean KCD.
On acceptance of the plea of DrHashim khan by the board, Peshawar high court vacated the stay and the other plea of removal of the principal was denied and considered illogical.
On the court directives the board constituted a new selection committee according to the will of DrHashim khan, consisting of three external senior professors from Islamabad and Lahore and four members from KMC and KCD faculty, two from each basic and clinical science and one final year student.
All the applicants were called for interview on 2nd march 2017 after the lapse of 14 months. The merit criteria were qualification, administrative experience, technical expertise, leadership qualities, and other credential and performance in interview.
Ten candidates namely Dr Muslim Khan, Dr Syed Nasir shah, Dr. ShujaRiaz Ansari, Dr. Hashim khan, Dr. Dilabaz khan, Dr. Hameedullah Jan, Dr. GhulamRasool, Dr Muhammad Saleem, Dr. Jawad Ahmad Kundi, and DrSaad were interviewed.
The selection committee short listed three candidates. BOG in 23rd meeting held on March 4, 2017 approved the name of Prof Dr. GhulamRasool, who was on the top of merit list as Dean KCD and issued appointment order.
BOG MTI KTH proceeded the whole process transparently and strictly according to the merit. Prof Dr. GhulamRasool is highly qualified amongst the candidates, who did BDS from KCD, MCPS, FCPS and master in medical education.
He has done several courses both within the country and abroad. He has published 43 research articles in national and international recognized journals. He has also executed and supervised more than twenty research projects.
He has a vast technical and supervisory experience with PMDC, CPSP, and different national universities. He has organized several national and international conferences and workshops. During his principal ship he has improved both the academic and clinical services in KCD.
