SC orders KP govt to complete construction of quake affected schools within six months and present report thereof

ISLAMABAD
Supreme Court (SC) has ordered KP government to complete construction of schools in quake affected areas in the province within six months and file the report in the court. The court ordered chairman Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) to appear before it in person on next hearing.
A 3-mmeber bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmad took up the case for hearing Tuesday.
The counsel for KP government argued the construction of 244 quake affected schools has been completed under the order of SC. 70 percent construction work in respect of all quake affected schools has been completed.
SC had given time in the month of August this year for construction of quake affected schools in KP. The const ruction work remains completely closed during winter in northern areas of KP.
Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan inquired from the counsel for KP government tell us one deadline when the const ruction of all schools will be completed and they will become functional.
Counsel for KP government said it is requested to court to give two months time after March 2022 for completion of construction work in the schools.
The CJP remarked contempt of court proceedings will be initiated if report on completion of construction of the quake affected schools is not presented after six months.
The court directed KP government to complete the construction of all quake affected schools in six months and file report thereof.
The court also ordered chairman ERRA to appear before it in person on next hearing and adjourned the hearing of the case for six months.
