Development of tribal areas, priority of government: Arshad Ayub
PESHAWAR
The Provincial Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub on Tuesday claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has allocated unprecedented funds for irrigation schemes in merged districts.
He expressed these views during a meeting held to discuss irrigation department performance and allocation of funds for merged districts.
According to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and under the leadership of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, development projects are being set up in the tribal districts, he added.
Arshad Ayub said that significant funds have been allocated for irrigation projects in the tribal districts and work on these projects is in progress.
With the completion of these projects, the agriculture sector will be on the path of development, he added.
He said that irrigation and food security are closely linked and water should be provided to farmers on priority basis through schemes to increase their yield per acre and raise their standard of living.
Mr Ayub directed the concerned authorities to monitor the projects and take special care of quality.
The concerned officials briefed the provincial minister in detail about the ongoing projects in the meeting he directed on the occasion.
