Police foiled a bid to smuggle Rs282,000 worth of counterfeit currency and arrested two suspects on Kohat Road falls in the limits of Banamani Police Station here on Saturday.
Banamani Police Station SHO Taimur Saleem said the smuggling of fake currency notes worth Rs282, 000 from Dera-Adam Khel to Peshawar had been foiled. Accused were smuggling the fake currency on a motorcule but apprehended by police on Kohat road, police shared.
Mr Taimur said that two suspects identified as Montazir Khan and Khan Badsha residents of Dera-Adam Khel has been arrested and investigation has been launched.
During the preliminary investigation, the accused confessed to smuggling fake currency to Punjab after Peshawar he added.
They have confessed to being involved in counterfeit currency during the preliminary investigation against whom a case has been registered and investigation has been started, police said.
