IHC issues notice to govt on appointment of governor GB

Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notice to federal government and sought reply on if the process of appointment of governor Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has been started or otherwise. The court has directed federal government to file reply till June 27.
The petitioner took the plea the post of governor GB is vacant since April 19. Keeping the slot of governor vacant is against the constitution. The court also issued notice to secretary cabinet and secretary ministry of Kashmir affairs. A division bench of IHC comprising justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani and justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan issued notices.
Single bench had wrapped up the petition regarding the appointment of governor GB with observation.
Single bench said it is expected that president will make appointment on the advice of president and prime minister.
It was told in the intra court appeal to the court that process has not been started so far.
The petitioner Muhammad Khan had resorted to the court in connection with appointment of governor GB.
