Effective, workable plan requires for polio eradication: Arshad

Commissioner Bannu division Arshad Khan has directed the Polio Eradication Initiative Vaccination Programme officials to devise a comprehensive workable plan for upcoming anti-polio campaign in the division, adding that free from shortcomings and effective plan could help the government to eradicate polio virus from the society.
He said that Extended Program in Immunization and Polio Eradication Initiative Vaccination Program have a number of shortcomings as both programs were following traditional approaches in their campaigns against polio virus.
Without setting up clear targets and a workable plan desired results could not be achieved, he added.
Arshad Khan made these remarks while chairing a high level consultative meeting regarding the upcoming anti-drive in Bannu division.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Ashfaq Anwar, Deputy Commissioners, District Health Officers and heads of the concerned departments attended the meeting and presented their suggestions and proposals regarding the upcoming Anti-Polio campaign in the division.
Commissioner Bannu said that anti-polio authorities should assist in formulating newly laid out procedures in the light of effective, lasting and workable proposals so that the newly formulated procedures for achieving the targets and achieving the objectives could be implemented soon.
The new proposals would be presented at the next Provincial Task Force Meeting on Polio Eradication for approval, he added.
RPO Syed Ashfaq Anwar during the meeting directed the quarter concerned to take effective steps to minimize the threats to health and police departments personnel.
Syed Ashfaq also directed the health department for a strong coordination with other relevant departments of the division, adding that Information Technology and Information Technology Board departments should be taken on board for effective monitoring of the polio teams in the division.
Syed Iqbal Hussain Bacha, District Health Officer Lakki Marwat Dr Abdul Gul, EPI Coordinator Lakki Marwat, District Health Officer Bannu and North Waziristan Dr Rehman Afridi, Deputy DHO Dr Zafar Iqbal Wazir, EPE Coordinator Dr Sajid, N Staff Officer Dr. Imran, DHCSO Habib Wazir and Secretary to Commissioner Noorul Amin also attended the meeting.
