CS-KP lauds drug-free Peshawar drive of district admin

Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash has appreciated the rehabilitation drive launched by the district administration under the supervision of Commission Peshawar, saying the provincial government was moving in right direction in eradicating the evils of drug from the society.
He made these remarks while chairing an important meeting regarding drug free Peshawar campaign here on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Mehsud, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Shafiullah and other relevant officers of the concerned departments.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the rehabilitation of drug addicts. Riaz Mehsud informed the forum that the process of arresting the drug addicts in the adjacent areas and taking them to the respective rehabilitation centers for treatment is underway.
He said that under phase 1, 1100 people have recovered and left to their homes and currently 900 people are undergoing treatment in the rehabilitation center.
Riaz Mehsud added that very soon not a single drug addict will be seen in Peshawar Division.
Commissioner Peshawar division said after the success of the phase1 operation against drug addicts in Peshawar, people are now taking drug addicts from homes to the centers.
Drug addicts aged from 14 to 45 years and this drug addiction has destroyed their lives, but with the help of relevant departments and district administration, drug addicts will be eradicated from all over Peshawar.
Deputy Commissioner Peshawar said that all the resources required for treatment were made available in the respective centers and their treatment under phase 2 has started under the supervision of district administration officers, expert doctors and along with the treatment they are also doing physical exercise so that this addiction can be cured.
On this occasion, Chief Secretary Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash appreciated the steps taken by Commissioner Peshawar along with other relevant departments and vowed to set an example by making KP a drug free province very soon.
