Former senior bureaucrat Prince Abbas Khan passes away

Former senior bureaucrat Prince Abbas Khan and the third son of former ruler of Hunza state Mir Muhammad Jamal Khan passed away after a brief illness here on Thursday.
He was 70. He left behind a widow and two sons. He was the brother of Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan, the former governor and chief executive of Gilgit-Baltistan. Abbas Khan was commissioned into the Pakistan Army as a captain and later joined the Central Superior Services (CSS).
He served many government organizations in senior position, including federal secretary. He was known for his honesty and competency, and popular among his colleagues. He was laid to rest at the H-8 Graveyard. His funeral was attended by a large number of people, including senior government officials, his family and friends, and those belonging to Hunza.
