PESHAWAR: The environmental samples taken from different areas of Hangu after the suspected presence of the poliovirus on Friday confirmed the virus prevalence in areas of the district. After the development, Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel while talking to news persons on TV said the presence of poliovirus in Hangu is similar to the one in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province. Terming the presence of the crippling virus in Hangu, Abdul Qadir Patel urged the parents to ensure anti-polio vaccination of their children. APP
He said only vaccination can protect children from the poliovirus and added eliminating this virus from Pakistan is our national priority. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district Bannu has reported the first case of 2023. Last year, the KP had reported 22 cases.
