Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Dr Riaz Anwar on Thursday visited Paraplegic Center Hayatabad to participate in World Clubfoot Day program.
Clubfoot describes a range of foot abnormalities usually present at birth in which children’s foot is twisted out of shape or position.
It is pertinent to mention here that Paraplegic Centre Hayatabad is the only centre in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where patients from across the country were treated under the comprehensive physical rehabilitation program.
The goal of World Clubfoot Day is to raise awareness about clubfoot disability and its prevention using the Ponseti Method, a non-surgical treatment.
On this occasion, Chief Executive Dr Syed Muhammad Ilyas briefed the participants about the importance of the day and services of the centre in relation to clubfoot treatment.
He informed the participants that all the aid tools and instruments, required for the rehabilitation of the disabled, were manufactured at the paraplegic center.
Free treatment and transport facilities are also being provided for people affected by the centre, he added and said parents who are concerned about clubfoot in their children must visit the Paraplegic Center.
Dr Syed shared with the participants that clubfoot treatment is expensive treatment in private clinics, adding that most of the people avoid visiting private clinics.
“Paraplegic Centre Hayatabad is providing these services to the public absolutely free of charge. Those parents who are worried about clubfoot in their children should visit the center,” he added.
