On the third day of the Melbourne Test match, third umpire Richard Illingworth got stuck in the lift. After the lunch break on the third day, there was some delay in the start of the game, much to the dismay of the players and fans. It was later discovered that the third umpire, Richard Ellingworth, was trapped in the lift. When the match was stopped, the fourth umpire, Phil Gillespie, stepped into action to fill the empty box temporarily, but Ellingworth was removed from the lift in the meantime.
During the match, the game was stopped for 7 minutes after the incident, but the MCG acknowledged the strange situation and apologized on the tweet.
