An introductory session for the newly elected members to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly was held at a local hotel in Peshawar. The session was organized by GIZ Pakistan in collaboration with Parliamentary Services here on Friday.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly Deputy Speaker Soraya Bibi attended the session as a chief guest. Members of the Provincial Assembly, Team Leader, Permanent Member of Parliament Margaret Cook and other participants participated in the introductory program.
Addressing the participants, Deputy Speaker Suraya Bibi said that organizing awareness programs for the members of the Provincial Assembly on complex issues such as the Constitution, Parliamentary Affairs, Assembly Business, and Budget is a positive development.
“These types of training programs make it easier for us to understand the stages of legislation. These training programs are helpful in understanding the role of Standing Committees, Public Accounts Committee and the rules of these committees,” she said.
Deputy Speaker hoped that in this kind of training program, we will not only learn new things about legislation process but get information about new developments.
It also give us an opportunity to share ideas and learn from experienced lawmakers who elected to Assembly for second and third times.
