The spokesperson of the provincial government Barrister Mohammad Ali Saf has strongly condemned the recent events in Islamabad, labeling them a “drama” aimed at paralyzing the Supreme Judiciary under the guise of a constitutional amendment.
Mr Saif criticized the secrecy surrounding the constitutional package draft amendment, stating that it was not shared with anyone despite overnight voting efforts. The KP government spokesperson likened the situation to a suspenseful play, where the constitution and laws were being toyed with for personal interests.
He alleged that the “fake government” and its allies are pushing for the amendment to serve their political agendas, with the PPP also involved in the attack on the Supreme Court. Saif warned that the proposed amendments to the Constitution would render the Supreme Court a powerless entity, reducing it to a mere luxury building. Barrister Saif’s statement comes amidst rising tensions over the constitutional amendments. The constitution package is a set of amendments to the constitution, among which is one aiming to fix the tenure of the chief justice of Pakistan at three years.
