Hayatabad police on Monday claimed to have traced and arrested a group involved in vehicle thefts across the district and recovered three stolen vehicles. Police said that the arrested was made after the special directives of higher authorities, ensuring swift action against those involved in organized crime.
Following the instructions of SP Cantt Division Aitzaz Arif, a special team led by DSP Hayatabad Circle Muhammad Ashfaq Khan and SHO Hayatabad Police Station Tariq Khan launched an investigation using modern scientific techniques. The team successfully identified and apprehended three suspects, Ikram, Tawas Khan, and Hazrat alias Babu, all residents of Badaber’s Ahmadkhel area.
According to police officials, the suspects were part of an organized car lifting gang that primarily targeted citizens while they were engaged in shopping or offering prayers in different areas of Hayatabad.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in multiple car theft incidents. Based on their information, police recovered three stolen vehicles, which were returned to their rightful owners after legal formalities.
The crackdown was initiated after a complaint was lodged by a citizen, Syed Suleman Shah, regarding the theft of his vehicle.
Following strict directives from senior officers, a special investigation team was formed, which reviewed CCTV footage and gathered intelligence data on suspicious individuals linked to the crime.
The Capital City Police and Hayatabad Police have vowed to continue their crackdown against vehicle lifters, ensuring the safety and protection of citizens. The vehicle owners expressed gratitude to the police for their swift action, while authorities hinted at further arrests in connection with the gang.
Police officials have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help curb such crimes in the city.
