The Centre for Learning Law and Business (CLLB) Peshawar, in collaboration with IMSciences and the Directorate of Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, successfully staged the original play State of the Art at IMSciences, Peshawar.
This thought-provoking multilingual metadrama, written and directed by Mujtaba Hilal with co-writer Haji ur Rahman, explored the struggles of young creatives navigating artistic and institutional barriers in our region.
Featuring a cast of 40 students from IMSciences, University of Peshawar, UET, NUML, Air University, and Pakturk Maarif School, the play resonated deeply with audiences, shedding light on themes of artistic struggle, fragmented identities, and creative resilience.
With a supernatural chorus symbolizing collective consciousness, State of the Art was not just a performance but a powerful statement on the need for institutional support in the arts. The production was led by Wafa Farooq, an MPhil Scholar at the University of Peshawar, and was made possible through the guidance and facilitation of the IMSciences and Youth Affairs. The overwhelming response from students and faculty alike highlighted the growing importance of theatre in university education, emphasizing the role of arts and dramatics in shaping a vibrant literary and cultural scene in Peshawar.
