To ensure a successful enrollment campaign in the province and bring back maximum number of children into the education system, a special strategy has been devised by ECW and Rural Development Society (PRDS) in collaboration with Elementary and Secondary Education (E&SE) Department KP, under which PRDS education champions and volunteers have started their activities to identify out of school children as well as make all out efforts to bring them back to schools.
While talking to the media persons, the Provincial Manager of MYR Program, Tariq Hayat Yousafzai said that this year KP government has set target of enrolling maximum number of out-of-school children and their prime focus is on those unprivileged children of the society, who left education incomplete due to various problems. The enrollment campaign will continue till April 30th and their aim is to achieve the overall goal of current enrollment campaign. He said special focus will be paid to the admission of new boys and girls as well as to reduce dropout rates among the students.
Mr. Tariq Hayat said that with the financial and technical support of international volunteer organization “VSO” and ECW, enrollment drive is being continued in three districts of the province including Charsadda, Nowshera and Peshawar. He was of the view that many children especially girls do not attend the school especially in far-flung areas, due to school’s remoteness, financial & cultural barriers and security concerns. We need to bring every child back into the classroom, assess their learning, help them catch up and support their wellbeing, he added.
He urged the parents, teachers, religious clerics, civil society members especially media to play their active role in making this campaign a success. Meanwhile to aware the people regarding enrollment drive, different social media platforms are being utilized while awareness sessions will also be held to sensitize the communities about the importance of education especially girl’s education.
