Health advisor suspends MS over substandard medicines at Mansehra hospital

PESHAWAR: Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Health Ihtesham Ali, paid a detailed visit to the Hazara region to review healthcare facilities and address public concerns. According to an official statement, during a visit to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in Mansehra, the KP Health Advisor identified the provision of substandard medicines under the Sehat Card scheme. In response, the Medical Superintendent was immediately suspended and directed to report to the Director General Health Services. An interim official was given additional charge to ensure smooth administrative operations. The Advisor also inaugurated the State-of-the-Art Regional Blood Centre in Abbottabad, terming it a significant achievement. He emphasized that the new facility will ensure the supply of safe, tested blood to five district hospitals, preventing the spread of life-threatening diseases like HIV and hepatitis. He further announced free blood provision for thalassemia patients at Ayub Teaching Hospital. Later, the Regional Director General of Health, Dr. Amir Israr, briefed the Advisor on ongoing health projects, staff availability, and medicine supplies across the region. Ihtesham Ali, attended a seminar organized by the Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) as a guest speaker.
